Frequently Asked Questions
These are answers to some of the most common questions we get from our customers regarding SD cards:
Most SD cards will be compatible with your device. Of course, there are exceptions. You should still check the details of the SD card you plan on buying to be sure. Generally, higher-capacity devices work best with higher-end SD cards with at least 32GB of storage.
We recommend you get a higher-end SD card. If you take pictures as a hobby, then a 32GB SDHC card would be enough for your needs. However, professional photographers should opt for a SDXC card with at least 64GB of storage. For the best quality photos, we recommend purchasing an SD card from leading brands such as SanDisk and Lexar.
First, you need a card reader. It’s a small device that allows access to SD card data, such as pictures, without needing to open the camera. Once you have a card reader, insert it into the PC’s USB port. This should automatically open up a window on your PC screen displaying the files on the SD card. You can now download these files to your PC’s storage.
Remove the SD card from your device, restart the device, and then carefully reinsert the SD card. You need to ensure that you’re inserting the SD card correctly. If the SD card still isn’t working with your device, try inserting it into another device. If the SD card also doesn’t work with the other device, then it may be damaged. If the SD card works with the other device, then it’s possible that it isn’t compatible with that particular device. In this case, just contact the Flash Trend team and we’ll help you find an SD card that’s compatible with your device. The same also applies to Micro SD cards.
The advertised storage of the SD card is its storage capacity in unformatted, raw form. But when the SD card is formatted, a little bit of its raw storage capacity is used up in the process. Therefore, the formatted card capacity (or actual storage) is less than the unformatted capacity usually advertised on the SD card’s packaging. The same also applies to Micro SD cards.
All our SD cards have a full manufacturer’s warranty which lasts for years. But if the SD card doesn’t work as it’s supposed to, we’d be happy to replace it for you. The same also applies to Micro SD cards.
Since SD cards utilise solid-state storage and have no moving parts, they are incredibly durable and long-lasting. Like with Micro SD cards, you can accidentally drop your SD card in water, quickly pick it up, dry it off, and it won’t be damaged.
For the ultimate performance and speed, we typically recommend getting a SanDisk or Lexar SDXC card with at least 64GB of storage. However, this is just our general recommendation and we would need to know your needs in more detail to give you the best option. For example, Samsung SD cards may be the better choice for Android smartphones.
